  • Got a little work done.

Today the weather at the Jersey shore is beautiful, mid 70's & mostly sunny so I decided to take advantage of the good weather & roll the 69 Coupe out of the garage & cut out the l/s front torque box & floor support. Here is as far as I got when I busted my last sawzall blade.

Wow, no kidding - but that poor thing is definitely going to see better days. Good to see you working on it again, Mike.

That is what happens to a car that has been in NJ all its life. Road salt is a killer.

Today it was hot & humid & I did not feel like crawling around under the car so I installed the Shelby lower side scoops & then went back inside in the A/C.

Today I finished removing the remainder of the l/s torque box except for where it is welded to the frame & the rocker panel which I will grind off.

Today after work I drilled out the spot welds holding the remainder of the outer torque box at the rocker panel & at the frame rail.

I admire your perseverance in bringing that Coupe back from the edge of the crusher, Mike!

Thanks Ryan. Today is a gorgeous day at the Jersey shore so out came the 69 Coupe for more sheet metal work.
1st pic, I cut out the rotted metal around the fresh air vent opening.

2nd pic, The l/s frame rail is rotted through the bottom not as bad as the r/s but needs repair. I cut out the bottom rear & l/s of the rear section of the frame rail. I will remove the rest tomorrow, then start test fitting new sheet metal.

Kind of a good feeling cutting that nastiness off, isn't it? Zen-like, even.

Yes it is, good thing there is not much of the "nastiness" left to cut off. Today I spent about 3 hours cutting & test fitting the patch for the l/s cowl side panel.
