  • Today after work the 5.0 engine went to the rebuilder along with the intake, cam & cyl heads I purchased for it. This week I covered the connections on the grounding block & the power distribution block.

    • Friday I dropped the 5.0 engine off at the re-builder. Today I installed the ignition cylinder, & the wiper switch. The wiper switch is an intermittent one from a 1985 Ford truck that fits the 69 Mustang dash & the harness from the Mustang plugs right into the 85 truck switch. All I have to do is hook up the ground wire for the switch.

          • Ryan, no I do not but here are the details. The short block is a 5.0 from a 1987 Crown Vic, I have a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, the cylinder heads are Ford Performance #-M-6049-X306 w/Ford Performance 1.6 roller rockers, cam is Ford Performance #-M-6250-B303. The timing gears will be Cloyes, oil pump will be Melling, Ford Performance roller lifters, chrome molly push rods, & Clevite bearings. The dist will be a Pertronix Flame Thrower w/Ignitor II, w/Pertronix Digital HP ignition box, & I am thinking of running a FiTech EFI, w/a Spectra fuel tank w/electric in tank fuel pump.

            • Mike,
I am not familiar with those cylinder heads and cam....and sure, I could probably do some surfin' & look it up and get an idea...... but I'll just ask: Considering your '87 short block (dished pistons?) and those heads, what compression do you expect it will have?

What is the expected "RPM Power" range of that cam?

              • I stopped at the re-builder yesterday after work & he told me the cam & the intake have the same RPM power range IIRC 4,000-4500 RPM. He also stated with the changes he is making to the engine I could expect 325HP out of the engine. As far as the compression next time I see him I will have to ask.

                • I have been sick all week with the flu & only started feeling better today so I spent a little time in the garage finishing the "custom" r/s Mach-1 dash panel. When I got the panel the wood grain applique was peeling so I decided to completely remove it & paint it satin black to match the l/s dash panel.

                      Thanks Ryan.
Yesterday I acquired an aluminum driveshaft for the Mustang from a 2000 Explorer 2WD 4 door 4.0 V-6, which is actually the same length as the stock Mustang driveshaft. Now I just have to replace the u joints & install the yoke for the T-5 trans.
