I have a few ?? the car has a 352 3 speed and we are looking for more hp.
does anyone make hp parts fro a 352 ?
does anyone know of a crate engine that makes around 400?
    will a 390 be a direct swap?
we are looking more into a complete engine for this car and do not want to make any major mods to the car itself looking for a bolt in swap
    Thanks

A 390 will bolt in, it's a FE engine same as the 352. Pretty much the same engine, just larger bore. If you could find one, a 427 will bolt in, too. And a 428 FE. The bay is large enough for a Lima 385 series 429 or 460, but you'll have to make frame mounts unless you find something that fits. A 460 with a 5 speed would be killer!

If you look into the history of the 352, some of them were really impressive, for example the 1960 352 Police Interceptor had 360 horsepower. You could make a decent street monster with one.

well i guess i am not sure what i need. my new boss has a lot of classics and wants me to do the leg work for him and a search netted me not much on the 352 and i know very little about fe engines he want around 400 hp and i thought a crate engine would be best but again not much on 352 so i thought 390 as long as no other mod are necessary (his requirement) he wants to keep the oe 3 speed so all the accessories (not sure what it has right now) would have to bolt right on . so thats where im at, not too sure where to start so i started here
i have been away from cars for a while and just started working for a volkswagen/mazda/subaru/ford/dodge/classics dealer (3 locations)
            Thanks

Anything that fits the FE engine is usable on the 352, I believe.

Shouldn't be hard to find a 390, they used them for years in the full sized cars and in pickups. Vintage speed parts like dual 4 bbl intakes and factory cast headers are pricey when you find them, but they are out there. I'd just go with a stock or .030 over 390 block, maybe a set of aluminum heads, a aluminum 4bbl intake and a good cam grind from one of the major players, a set of tube headers would help too. Here's a good thread with enough info on FE's to make your head swim:

that was some good info, I have been learning a lot and from the way it sounds fe is fe but he has decided on a 390 crate engine $7,000 421 hp seems like a lot to me but like I said I have been out of it a while and I guess things just cost more, go figure....

FE = Freaking Expensive. Fortunately they've started to make a lot of new parts for them in the last number of years, but they also tend to be pretty expensive. That ought to make the Galaxie run pretty well.
