  • Retro Tek's Speed Boss EFI system.

Anyone running this "cool" set up? It's a 4 barrel throttle body (EFI) that looks like a 4bbl carburetor, uses the stock (carb Type) air cleaner and comes in 750 or 1200 CFM.
Also uses any stock/after market 4 barrel intake manifold.
Comes complete with everything: o2 sensor, elec fuel pump with no return line required and a small engine control processor. (Easy to hide and smaller that the Ford EEC IV unit)
Only saw it in mags, but it looks like a Holley 4bbl. (available in polished)
Old school looks with modern technology (great for resto mods).
    750 retails around $2200, and the 1200 @ $2600.
Anyone run this unit or heard about it ?
    Thanks.

Alex, have you seen the RetroTek unit ?? Never saw Roush's. What I like is the R-Tek looks like a Holley Carb and even has the dual feed lines.
A real sleeper unit, if it's a quality piece ....

It was on a 393 stroker small block.
Dyno: with 750 Carb 355 HP 392 Torque
            750 EFI: 357 HP 419 torque
            1200 EFI: 367 HP 423 Torque

Torque #'s are impressive. Was curious about Fuel Mileage, and Performance thru the gears....

Eddie, in my opinion, while that Retro Tek may look cool, that's way too much money for a glorified TBI setup. If you are willing to spend that kind of money get a multiport setup and get all the advantages of fuel injection. TBI is just a glorified carb, and you still deal with fuel falling out of suspension, fuel distribution problems, etc. Multiport systems are much more precise.

Thanks Steve. I understand what you are saying (your talking the EBrock or Holley set up right)?
I wouldn't be in a hurry to put out that kind of money for EFI, but that was what I liked was the "Old School (carb) Look".

Then use an old school carb.

There, I just saved you $2000.

Very tempting as it looks like a very simple way to go EFI, and it looks so very cool
but, looks like tuning is very limited, as steve says.
Roush cross boss set up sounds exciting

That is a cool looking setup.

But if I was seriously looking into going EFI I'd probably use a Mass-Flo setup:

They look like Webers, Ron. I'll be sticking with a carb. For this kind of money I could buy a crate motor !
