  • Titanium Valves

Pro's and Con's.... I have no experience using titanium valves. However, I've heard that they are hard on guides and possibly seats as well.

Can we start a discussion on intake & exhaust valves in this thread? Not exclusively Titanium valves either, letís keep all options open for discussion. I've only used Ferrea SS valves for that last 10 years and canít complain either. I would like to get some info on other alternatives as well.

Titanium are lighter, stronger, run cooler than steel.
Given the option that is what to use if it fits into the budget.

The link worked oaky for me, but it is one of those sites that uses flash, and keeps playing sounds at you. They may have a great product but they need to get the web designer to sort the site!

can you add any details about how folks can make the most of the lighter valves. Like for example can you use lighter spring pressure for a given target RPM? How much does it really help?
I dont know how much more they cost but I can see how it could make a big difference on high revving engine with a big cam/1.7 ratio rockers...

A set of 16 titanium valves will usually cost in the neighborhood of $1,300.00! But they ARE bullet-proof... and that's why you usually only see them in 8000+ rpm NASCAR, 9,000+ rpm drag, 14,000 rpm pro-stock motocycle, or top fuel dragster engines.

I would only reccomend them if you can:
                            A. afford them
                            B. are building a all out race motor that will run extreme RPM.
They not only are bullit proof and lighter, but also run cooler.
