  • V351 head

Searching around I found information on the m-6049-v351 heads. I do not know if the information is accurate so I am looking for confirmation here.

I was told the V351 head is the original Edelbrock Victor head with Ford part numbers. Is this true?

This leads to a second question, is the V351 a better high performance head than the Z304?

I was planning an engine to put in my street driven 83 Mustang. I want to use it in my attempt to qualify for the Pinks show later next year. The short block will be a 344 inch 8.2 deck because I already own the crank to give that CI with a .060 overbore. Then I began looking at various heads to use and was Zeroing in on the Edelbrock - Glidden Victor.

Then I started thinking that since all my cars eventually gravitate towards some kind of class car I should buy heads that are legal in the Superstock Modified classes. That means I need a head with Ford numbers cast in it.

So I need a price for steel rods, pistons and bare heads. I can't buy the pistons until I verify that my memory is correct concerning the stroke of the crank, but I can buy some 5.4 rods and (after the Christmas spending spree) the bare heads. So Alex, shoot me some prices and I will be buying as the budget allows.

As soon as I get the crank mounted in a block and measure the stroke I will send the piston specs.

Merry Christmas - Ho Ho Ho

John, do you have any idea how many 5.400 connecting rods are out there these days?

        Pick one. LOL

How about the journal size? Is that crank radiused?

I know you wouldn't sell me a bad one and I really don't care about the brand. Eagle or Scat I beam would be just fine.

When I bought the engine with the crank in it the rods were aluminum and I don't remember about the radius. I have the crank stored over at my Ex's garage, I will go over there this weekend and check. As for the journal, it is a standard Small block size. 2.213 but I will mike it to make sure.

            OK, no sweat John.
Just let me know specifics when you get them.

We usually try to keep a set of standard .912 pin Scat or Eagle H beams on the shelf.

            In season that is.

This time of year I am luckey if we can afford to stock stamps.
