Living in a land mine

Well, this year's land mine is our roofs. Last week's heavy rains resulted in me discovering I had a leak in my garage roof. At first I was going to just have the leak fixed but then I figured I would just be chasing my tail fixing leaks as they pop up and since the roof on my house is 27 years old and the garage is 25, I might as well just bite the bullet and take care of it. Fun times, and the cars take a back burner again. On the bright side, the estimates are coming in lower than I anticipated, thank goodness we have a small simple house. One of Pam's coworkers spent over $20k last year (a professor's house ) and the estimates I've been getting aren't even half that.
