  • How I spent my Friday, or celebrating 2 million miles

I'm not much of one for recognition or to blow my own horn, but the company I've been leased to for 21 years is showing respect and recognition to some of drivers with good records. They did 4 drivers last month, today, it was mine and two of my friends' day. Glen and I have 2 million miles the way they figured it, I guess it's actually 2.5 or more because the records from the first years have been lost and had to be estimated. Stanley hasn't been there as long as Glen and I, but he's a runner too, and a great guy. They gave us a recognition ceremony at the office today with almost all the office staff attending. The big black guy in the suite is my dispatcher Anthony and a friend also, he keeps me rolling. Funny thing is I've been there longer than any of the office folks! They gave us a nice embroidered jacket, 4 caps, a nice plaque, a gold ring with diamonds in it made by the same company that did the Super Bowl and NCAA Championship rings, and the biggest surprise of all, an envelope with $1500 cash inside! I was floored!

I've had my ups and downs with them, but overall, they are a great company to work for. I'll be there until I retire, and probably after that working part time some. Glad to call it home.
Here's a link to a U Tube slide show of the pics they took, there will probably be a video uploaded in a few days and I'll link to it then.
For those that don't know, I'm the fuzzy one with the cap on....

              Bobby,
Sincerest congratulations! 2 million accident free miles is quite an accomplishment, given the idjits allowed to roll down the road!
              Cheers!

Thanks guys! I've never worked for anybody that did anything like this before. Last company I worked for I was there 11 years, was the senior driver, but about all that meant was I got a new truck every couple of years, a perk for sure, but never any acknowledgement of a job well done. I've worked my ass off for these folks, and they appreciate it. This management team wasn't there when I went over the million mile mark, the ones that were in charge then were more concerned with themselves than anybody else, probably a big reason they are no longer there.

I've got to say, it does feel good to be recognized for what you've done. A new feeling for me for sure.
