I'm not at all happy with my car insurance right now. At my renewal last month, my premium increased from $174/month to $215.
I'm 51, accident and ticket free, full coverage on the 2015 Edge of course, liability only on the '04 Ranger and '99 Escort.
I actually thought $174/month was high with the multicar/homeowners discounts.
I called Progressive and they couldn't come up with any reason, other than where I live here in Missouri (hail/tornadoes/etc).
They tried to find a way to get it back down, but said they couldn't.
This post reminds me I need to start shopping insurance again. I just hate doing the homeowners insurance shuffle, especially since my homeowner premium was just paid last month.
Incidentally, I carry "collector car" insurance on my 2003 Mach 1 with Hagarty. I carry the same coverages as progressive (100/300/100), but it's a stated value policy ($14k), and my premium is $198....A YEAR.

So was I, that’s part of the reason I am happier these days.

Damn, Craig, that is high. I would shop around for sure.

I've got 100/300/100 liability on my '70 Mustang, and agreed value of $22K on it. Last year was $196 per year. Now it's at $212 per year. It's nice that the Insurance Co's respect Classic Cars, and their owners, realizing how we all "BABY" them.

We pay ~$2k for four cars. That's 3 cars with full coverage with better liability coverage. Our insurance was about the same with the kids on the policy with liability only on their cars. The Mustang is half of my insurance premium!

I'm about like Craig, our full coverage on both the 99 F150 and the 05 Expedition is right at $300 a month with State Farm, about what I pay a YEAR for $25,000 on the Lincoln and $10,000 coverage on the 88Firebird with Grundy. Both of us have clean license, no tickets in years, and the only accident wasn't her fault when she got rear-ended a couple of months ago. Been with State Farm for years, but fixing to start looking around....

I had that problem with Progressive. They kept slowly jacking my rates up. Switched to Allstate. Monthly cars went down $40 a month and the RV went from $1,100 a year to $580.

That's waaaaay to high. We are almost $100 less a month with full coverage on our '14 Traverse, '09 F350 diesel (very high insurance on those trucks), '05 Mustang and our trusty F250 plow truck. Back to Steve's OG post, I paid more for my Z-24's insurance out of high school than we do for all of our junk now, lol

many years ago I learned not to trust ANY insurance company & I check for competing rates every 5 years.
2 years ago I switched to Kemper Preferred Ins. for her 2015 Focus & my 04 Ranger the premium is $1250 a year ( we pay for a full year, about $104 a month )
I have Grundy for the 34 coupe & the policy is $218 a year for $30,000 stated value policy.

a item to keep in mind is your policy may cost more or less than others due to the area you live in, at least that is how it was explained to me..

Where you live factors greatly on your insurance rates.

I remember my '87 GT going from about $100/ month to less than $50/ month when I turned 25. My Cougar has been on "withdrawn from use" since I parked it about 14 years ago. That way it still has comprehensive on it but is something like 10% of the normal premium. The other reason to do that is so I can keep tags on it and not have to pay a penalty on back taxes. I put my Mustang on withdrawn from use during the winter to save on the premium, too. I always have it reinstated on April 1, as that's about the time we've had enough rain to wash the salt off the roads. If you park something over the winter it's a pretty good way to save some money (we use State Farm).
