I laugh about it a/c and whatnot now...I was born in '79 and until 2004 I never had a car with a/c (or i should say the a/c didn't work). But man, I sure like having it now, I guess we're just becoming soft!

My second 67 Mustang was a factory air/power steering and brakes car. Air never worked though. Everything I've owned since except a VW Bug and a Toyota pickup I bought new has had air on it. But I grew up without AC at home and on my parents vehicles. Now only my Lincoln doesn't have AC, and it's in the long term plans. Gotta have it!

Back in the day (1980) when i located & bought my '69 Mach 1 while living in Houston, TX...,,,it was equipped with power steering, power brakes, air/conditioning and an FMX automatic transmission, Yep - I pulled it out. Converted it to manual brakes, manual steering and a 4-speed toploader. I switched out the A/C dash with all the ducting to a non-A/C dash without any ducting and the woodgrain gauge panels for the std camera-black panels. Yep, I also removed the console and the heater box too! No regrets....never looked back....... "This will be MY hot rod car!"

I think I would have enjoyed car shopping a lot more back then.
